About
We are a small preservation breeder of Swedish Lapphunds based in Maine, USA. We have been involved with the breed since 2018 and cannot imagine living without them. In our home we currently have 3 Swedish Lapphunds and 2 cats.
Mission
To preserve the Swedish Lapphund breed, produce healthy & balanced examples of the breed, provide breed education, and support the breed goals as set forth by the international breed community with priority to those set by the breed club in Sweden
Vision
We hope to see a healthy growing population of Swedish Lapphunds within the United States of America. We hope to see all of our puppies live long, healthy lives with their families and be good ambassadors for the breed in all aspects of their lives.
Background
We started out like many in the breed here in the USA, with a wonderful rescue dog that just happened to look like a Swedish Lapphund (i.e. a black fluffy spitz of medium size). Our wonderful boy, Beowulf, might not have been a Swedish Lapphund, but he embodied them and had touched the hearts of many.
After years of being heavily involved in rescue, we decided the time was right to change course and began our journey with this magnificent breed. It was a long wait but we welcomed Hersheytoo Arktalas aka "Tala" in late spring of 2019. She immediately hooked us into the breed and there has been no turning back.
Activities
We are a jack of all trades and a master at none. We dabble in a bit of everything and are always looking to try out more things. Our breed standard calls for a versatile dog breed and that's exactly what we strive to be: versatile.
Conformation
We love competing in conformation and do our best to attend as many of the AKC Open Shows we can in New England as well as the occasional UKC show. Feel free to message us and we're happy to meet up at one of the shows we're attending!
Sports
We do a little of everything. Agility, FastCAT, Barn Hunt, Rally, etc. We spend more time training than trialing to but we are doing our best to start trialing more. We hope in the future to do herding, tracking, and scent work. However, we acknowledge that there's only so many hours in a day.
Public Outreach
We are proud ambassadors for our breed and routinely attend public events such as AKC's Meet the Breeds and any outreach event we can for the breed. Our girls enjoy the public attention and we love sharing them with the public.
